LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of a woman’s death due to a stampede during distribution of COVID-19 relief funds under the Ehsass Program in Multan.
While expressing a deep grief over the death of the woman, Usman Buzdar has sought a detailed inquiry report from commissioners of Multan and also directed a probe into the matter.
Usman Buzdar said that foolproof arrangements should be ensured for the prevention of such incidents besides 100 percent implementation of SOPs.
Earlier, a woman was reportedly dead and 20 others injured in a stampede during distribution of COVID-19 relief funds under the Ehsass Program in Multan on Friday.
According to sources, a 45-yer-old woman was killed, while 20 others were injured when a stampede at Qasimpur center.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Multan in Qadirabad for treatment. A police official said investigation is being made to trace the reason behind the stampede.
