ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has inaugurated a mobile utility store in Islamabad.
On this occasion, Asad Umar said that PTI government is committed to providing relief to vulnerable sections of society amid the COVID-19 epidemic.
He said due to the closure of markets and lockdown, Prime Minister had instructed to initiate mobile utility store service to provide essential food items to the poor people at their door steps, he added.
The minister further said the mobile utility store service would provide, sugar, flour, rice and other essential items at subsidized rates.
He said this service would be accessible throughout the Ramadan, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a special package of Rs. 50 Billion for the poor people amid the epidemic.
He said that during the first phase there will be eight mobile utility stores in Islamabad. In the second phase, the mobility stores will be expanded to different cities across the country.
Director Utility Stores Corporation said that the mobile utility stores have been put in place to give essential food items to the poor families in the county.
Managing Director Utility Stores Corporation, MNA Raja Khurram, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad were also present at the occasion.
