LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar today (Monday) has announced a 20 percent reduction in school fees across the province as part of measures to shield the public from the economic impact of the lockdown.
The Punjab government had imposed a lockdown in order to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus. Punjab remains the worst affected province from coronavirus with more than 1600 infections.
CM Punjab took to Twitter and said that the provincial government has decided that it will cut the school fees across the province by 20% during the ongoing holidays. He also said that the schools have also been instructed to collect the fees on a monthly basis.
CM Buzdar further said that the schools have also been directed to pay the salary of all its staff and teachers on time, and have been barred from firing them.
Earlier today (Monday), while talking to journalists in Lahore, Usman Buzdar said that an additional five field hospitals will begin work in Punjab to treat patients from the coronavirus.
He said, “The field hospitals have been set up in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot and Jhelum,” adding that almost 15 million people have applied for the Insaf Imdad Program launched by the government.
