KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has asserted that the nation is heading towards a lockdown, as two deaths have been reported in the country from coronavirus.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi today (Thursday), Bilawal Bhutto has said that the Sindh government immediately responded to the news of the coronavirus outbreak in China.
Bilawal Bhutto claimed that majority of the patients of coronavirus in Sindh were pilgrims who had come from Taftan, Iran, and were being put under quarantine.
He once again stated that there is a dire need to increase testing capacity of the country, adding that the Sindh government has arranged 10,000 testing kits on its own.
Bilawal Bhutto also urged the nation to unite in this tough situation and to make a joint strategy to meet the challenges of coronavirus.
He further said, “We must not gear our energies and focus towards criticism,” adding that the incumbent government should make some changes in its action plan.
Referring to the affected people from coronavirus, Bilawal Bhutto assured that the Sindh government would take care of you, adding that the provincial government will take up the responsibility of providing food supplies to poor.
The PPP chairman also directed the provincial government officials to ensure that no daily wage worker is laid off.
Commenting on the economy, Bilawal Bhutto said that the government should take some serious steps to keep the economy afloat.
