ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the federal cabinet was briefed on the ongoing coronavirus situation in Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting of federal cabinet, Firdous Ashiq Awan has confirmed that the number of cases has risen to more than the dozen.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Zulfi Bukhari also briefed the federal cabinet over the demands of parents of children stuck in China’s Wuhan.
She said that 11 out of 12 items on the cabinet meeting agenda were approved after discussions.
Commenting on the strike and protest of federal Secretariat employees, Firdous Awan said that PM Imran was deeply briefed over the issues of the employees.
In this regard, PM Imran directed has directed for uniform pay scales to avoid discrimination, she said, adding that PM Imran assigned Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh to hold talks with striking employees.
Referring to reports on sugar and wheat crises, Firdous Awan said that a detailed report on the flour crisis will be released by Saturday.
She said that people were looking up to the prime minister and the government for relief.
The director-general of the FIA informed the cabinet that it was necessary to have a forensic report on the sugar crisis, while PM Imran directed that the report be furnished quickly.
On the other hand, the cabinet also approved Board of Investment Chairperson Zubair Gilani’s resignation.
