Macaulay Culkin is one of the stars set to join the “American Horror Story” series for its upcoming tenth season.
Series creator Ryan Murphy announced the new and returning cast members in a gloomy video posted on Instagram, set to the tune of the song “Dead of Night” by Orville Peck. The two lead actors of the series in Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will return for this season, after missing out on season 9.
Culkin is known for his child actor roles in the “Home Alone” franchise playing Kevin McCallister, the kid whose family accidentally leaves him behind during their Christmas vacation.
He appeared in several more movies — including “My Girl” (1991), “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” (1992) and “The Good Son” (1993) — before taking a long break from Hollywood.
“I was tired of it, to be honest,” he told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in 2018. “I did like 14 movies in six years or something like that. … I was away from home a lot. I was away from school. I needed something else.” He added, “It was the smartest thing I could possibly have done.”
He most recently appeared as a guest star on the Hulu comedy series “Dollface.” For several years now, he has participated in experimental films and performing in his comedy rock band. This will be his first regular part in a live-action TV series. His last substantial TV role was in the series “Kings.”
Other season 10 cast members will include Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock. “American Horror Story” was handed a three-season renewal earlier this year, while season 10 will premiere later this year.
