KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange on Friday surged 178 points and closed on a positive note on the last trading day of the week.
The KSE-100 Index surged by 177.62 points or 0.44 percent to close the week at 40,832.99 points. Trading activity, however, remained low as daily volumes on the ready counter decreased to 180.706 million shares as compared to 260.143 million.

The uncertainty in the index continued in the second session as well but a buying spree in the final hour supported the recovery in the index.
At close, the benchmark KSE 100-share Index recorded an increase of 177.62 points, or 0.44 percent, to settle at 40,832.99.
The market capitalization increased by Rs 68 billion to Rs 7.845 trillion. Out of total of 344 active scrips, 176 closed in a negative, 156 is positive while the value of 12 stocks remained unchanged.
