ISLAMABAD: Local administration has sealed 660 shops and more than 30 restaurants for defying COVID-19 related standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Sunday.
The local administration also has imposed over Rs100,000 fine to the violators. Around 52 schools and 28 mosques were inspected to check the implementation of steps advised against the virus.
The administration had step up efforts amid the third wave of coronavirus pandemic as the number of positive cases in the federal capital continued to rise.
On March 19, the Islamabad administration had imposed more restrictions on movement in the federal capital amid a surge in the positivity ratio of COVID-19.
According to a notification issued by the administration on Friday, all out-door dining facilities will remain close in the capital city after 10:00 pm.
Furthermore, the restaurants, markets, will remain completely shut on weekdays (Saturday and Sunday), while the grocery and medical stores will, however, remain open during the restricted period.
The hotels and restaurants will be allowed to offer takeaway services as business activities and restaurant services have been restricted owing to the rising COVID positivity ratio.

Pakistan recorded 3,667 new cases of COVID-19 and 44 more deaths and were reported across the country during the last twenty-four hours.
According to the latest statistics from National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the total number of cases from the novel coronavirus has surged to 626,802. The death toll from the virus has reached 13,843 as the situation worsens across the country.
As many as 31,107 active cases in the country while 2,900 people remain in critical condition. A total of 41,960 tests were conducted across the country during this period. The positivity ratio was recorded at 8.7 percent during the past day.
