KARACHI: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has alleged that the Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh is being harassed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders and asked the provincial government to stop the victimization of political opponents.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan arrived at Jinnah Hospital Postgraduate Medical Center and inquired about the health of Haleem Adil Sheikh and later she also met with his family in Karachi on Sunday.

Talking to the media Dr. Awan said the lobby clamoring for upholding of democracy and freedom of expression wanted to silence the dissenting voice of the Sindh opposition leader. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that was being punished for exposing the corruption of the Sindh ruling party.

She further said that the entire Sindh government and its machinery was trying to harm PTI’s (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) tiger Haleem Adil Sheikh, who as the soldier of Imran Khan would continue the fight against corruption and injustice with full might.

She added that Haleem Adil Sheikh would continue raising the voice of the people of Sindh. “The false allegations made against Adil Sheikh by the PPP are reprehensible,” she added.

She said the PTI MPA had complained that the police allegedly at the behest of provincial ministers was raiding their houses almost daily which should be stopped now.

Dr. Awan said even basic needs, education, clean drinking water have not been provided to the people of the province in the last 12 years of the PPP rule. The provincial government has used taxpayer’s money for its own purposes, she alleged.

On the occasion, PTI Karachi President Khurrum Sher Zaman said that the situation in Sindh was disappointing and political victimization on the rise.

Daughter of Haleem Adil Shaikh, Ayesha Adil Shaikh said that her party (PTI) was standing shoulder to shoulder with her family. She said that her father was being politically victimized only due to raising his voice for the people of Sindh.
