Administration refutes shifting of Imran Khan from Attock to Adiala jail

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has disclosed that Army Chief General Bajwa do not not consider corruption a bad thing, adding that the current government is facing corruption cases to the tune of Rs.11 billion.

The former prime minister criticized the current government and the establishment in two different interviews given to the international media.

Imran Khan said he didn’t want to come to power with the help or approval of the establishment.

In his latest interview to the British media, Imran Khan said that the press conference of ISPR and ISI was a foolish one, adding that in that presser, lies were presented as truth, while some of the half-truth were presented out of context.

During the interview, Imran Khan said that the objective of the Long March was to hold free and fair elections. “We want the government to be elected by the people,” he said. He said he wanted a government that could come to power by way of election, and not auction. He alleged that the current government spent money, resorted to horse-trading and bought the conscience of some people to grab power.

Criticizing the government, Imran Khan said that the only one-point agenda of those who brought down the previous government and came to power was shut down corruption cases against themselves. He said the current government was faced with corruption cases to the tune of Rs.11 billion which were closed.

In his interview to American media, the PTI Chairman said that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa did not consider corruption as bad thing, nor was he to favor accountability.

He said only a just system could provide real freedom to the masses, and that the Long March was aimed at achieving the same objectives of upholding the rule of law, justice and free and fair elections.

The former Prime Minister said in Pakistan, if a powerful bandit steals, he is given NRO and if a weaker person does the same, he is put behind bars.

Imran Khan said any reconciliation, if it was to be done, could be reached only with the establishment as Shehbaz Sharif’s government had no real powers. He further said that this [government] was nothing, it was a bunch of people gathered by the establishment.

Shehbaz Sharif, he said, used to hide in truck to go for meeting [with the establishment], and all decisions are taken by Nawaz Sharif sitting abroad.

Imran Khan, when asked as to why he was not on the same page with General Bajwa, said the question should better be asked to the Army Chief. “I think he didn’t consider corruption a bad thing, nor was he ready for accountability,” he added.
