KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today (Monday) witnessed a bearish trend as the KSE 100 index closed at 42,174.14 points, with a negative change of 330.62 points (0.87 percent).
Losing 383.44 pts the benchmark KSE 100 index recorded a day’s low of 42,121.32. It settled with a loss of 330.63 pts at 42,174.13. The KMI 30-index depreciated by 473.98 points and closed at 67,858.97 points, while the KSE All-Share index fell by 205.95 pts closing at 29,961.06.
Overall market volumes were recorded at 433.92 million. Shares worth Rs 11.32 billion were traded. The highest volume was witnessed in Aisha Steel Mills Limited (ASL +5.51%), Unity Foods Limited (UNITY +0.61%), and Fauji Foods Limited (FFL -4.55%).
As many as 408 companies transacted shares in the stock market, 115 of them recorded gain and 277 sustained losses whereas the share price of 6 companies remained unchanged.
Sectors dragging the KSE 100 index south included Banking sector (90.85 points), Fertilizer sector (52.10 points), and Oil and Gas Exploration sector (48.94 points).
Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC 25.74 points), United Bank Limited (UBL 21.66 points) and Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFC 20.74 points) chipped off maximum points from the index.
The Refinery sector (-2.45 percent) closed as top loser. Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited (BYCO 2.58 percent), Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL 1.12 percent), Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL 4.43 percent), and National Refinery Limited (1.70 percent) all closed negative.
