ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Friday) has asserted that a separate annual development programme for South Punjab will usher in a new era of development in the region.
According to a statement, PM Imran expressed his views while chairing a meeting about the establishment of the South Punjab Secretariat and its working in Islamabad today (Friday).
The Prime Minister directed the authorities that devolution of powers should be gradually advanced so that administrative matters could be run in a better way.
“The practical steps taken by the PTI-led federal government to give identity to South Punjab reflect our affiliation with this region and understanding of their problems as well as their solution,” he remarked.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated that the PTI government has fulfilled its promise with the people of South Punjab by the establishment of the South Punjab Secretariat. The premier was also apprised that the South Punjab Secretariat would start its regular functions from 15th October.
Meanwhile, in another meeting, the Prime Minister directed the authorities to hold a monthly meeting of Pakistan Citizen Portal for effective and prompt resolution of citizens’ complaints.
According to the Prime Minister Office, all complaints should be re-examined in light of the Prime Minister’s directions. PM’s office asked the officers to demonstrate the utmost responsibility regarding citizens’ opinions received on the portal.
