KARACHI: Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has started selling sugar at grocery and general stores in order to gain more profit despite the government orders in this regard.
According to details, the officials of the Utility Stores Corporation sold the truck, number JX 6215, filled with sugar to several general shops instead of being delivered to Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s utility store.
The truck driver informed that the orders were given by the Ware House in-charge Inam and Region North in-charge Javed. When contacted, Area in-charge Ghaffar has refused to comment in this regard.
It is worth mentioning here that the price of sugar at utility stores has been fixed at Rs 68 per kilogram on which the government has provided subsidy, while sugar at general stores is being sold at Rs 90 per kilogram.
Relevant sources have informed that Sindh Region Utility Stores Corporation is allegedly selling sugar in various district markets. Sources further informed that relevant officials are allegedly involved in corruption.
