LAHORE: Pakistani Singer-songwriter Bilal Maqsood feels that religious content, such as Surahs and Duas, should not be monetised on online platforms, such as YouTube.
Bilal Maqsood took to Instagram and raised his concern regarding religious content on YouTube, the way it is interrupted by an advertisement. He sees it as disrespect when a recitation is interrupted by an advertisement.
The Strings guitarist said, “Surahs and Duas on YouTube should not be monetized. Imagine listening to Surah-e-Rehman and it is interrupted in the middle by a lawn or a cooking oil ad, it’s highly disrespectful.”

Last week, the musician raised his voice against the banning of YouTube once again in Pakistan. “Banning YouTube or any other app is not the solution.
He further said, “Even discussing such issues in this day and age is like pushing our country another 20 years behind. Whoever wants to watch vulgarity is not dependant on YouTube,”
Recently, Pakistani singer had recovered from the coronavirus disease. He had also shared his experience on how he spent time in isolation and eventually defeated the virus.
