Police Martyrs Day-The real heroes of nation

MM News Staff by MM News Staff

Reading Time: 3 mins read
Police Martyrs Day is being observed across the country to acknowledge brave fighters and express solidarity with their families.
Police played vital roles in the elimination of terrorism and restoration of peace in the country. They are the real heroes of our nation and will always be alive in the nation’s hearts.
Despite the difficult situations and limited resources, the police have played an exemplary role in the establishment of peace and protecting the lives of people in the country.
Sacrifices  of police in the prevention of crime
Miscreants attacked state legal institutions to make it more fragile in order to challenge the writ of the government. Police have also become a target for these extremist groups in Pakistan.
As of official data revealed in 2019, more than 3982 police personnel have lost their lives on the line of duty in over 450 suicide attacks since the year 2002.
The curse of terrorism in Pakistan has claimed the lives of over 8500 innocent citizens while 14,270 sustained some kind of physical injuries in the suicide attacks over the past 15-years (data as of 2019).
However, along with the civilians, our police force has paid a heavy price in the nightmares we lived.
More than 1557 policemen were targeted and killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 950 police personnel were killed in Sindh, 570 in Balochistan, 470 in Punjab.
While the rest of them lost their lives while performing duties in Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Suicide attacks
A suicide attack is any violent attack in which the attacker accepts their own death as a direct result of the method used to harm, damage, or destroy the target.
In the 18 years since 2002, at least 450 suicide attacks have been carried out on police officers, in which at least 3,700 policemen had been martyred. Several policemen have lost their lives against terrorism than other provinces of the country.
According to the data compiled by the Swat Police, as many as 158 police personnel and officers have been martyred during the war on terror.
Out of the total, one DSP, four inspectors, six sub-inspectors, nine assistant sub-inspectors, 15 head constables, 88 constables, 29 Special Police Personnel, four ex-servicemen and one class-1V employee lost their lives.
Citizens, police should change attitude
Today, the relationship between police and the citizens has become so dreadful in our country. A citizen and a policeman both have negative attitudes.
The attitude of policemen towards their job is very careless. People mostly prefer to solve their problems themselves, instead of taking help from the police. This trend needs to be changed.
There is a need that policemen must bring a change in their attitude towards the public. This change will help to improve the all over law and order situation of our country.
There must be a cooperation level between both the policemen and citizens equally so that both can perform their duties and also bear their responsibilities for a good society and the country.
The responsible role of police will help the state and society to counter-terrorism and crimes in Pakistan.
Police Martyrs Day
Special prayers and ceremonies were held to honour policemen who laid down their lives in the line of duty as the country observed Police Martyrs Day on Tuesday.
The day is marked every year on August 4, which is the death anniversary of Frontier Constabulary inspector general Safwat Ghayyur, who was martyred in a suicide attack near his office in 2010.
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and the whole nation paid tributes to policemen who sacrificed their lives while serving in the force and also expressed solidarity with their families.
It is our duty to celebrate and acknowledge the sacrifices rendered by the police for peace. By sacrificing their lives, police officials saved our tomorrows.
