KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has confirmed that the COVID-19 has claimed 23 more lives during the past 24 hours, taking the provincial death toll to 816.
In a statement issued from the CM House today, Murad Ali Shah said that the provincial health officials have reported 2,262 new cases after conducting 10,081 tests. “We have 51,518 cases in Sindh against 287,135 tests conducted so far,” he added.
The chief minister informed that at least 1,274 patients have recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 24,387 in the province.
CM Shah further said that 26,315 COVID-19 patients were undergoing treatment at various hospitals. “539 patients are in critical condition, of them, 69 have been shifted on ventilators,” he added.
Providing district-wise break-up of the cases, Murad Ali Shah said that out of 2,262 cases of the province, 1,113 cases were detected in Karachi. They include district East 366, Central 223, South 176, Malir 87, Korangi nine and West 48, he added.
He said that Ghotki has 97 new cases, Larkana 64, Hyderabad 59, Sukkur 56, Jacobabad 26, Dadu 19, Shikarpur 13, Khairpur 10, Mirpurkhas seven, Sanghar six, Shaheed Benazirabad three, Thatta two, Umerkot, Badin, Jamshoro, Kambar, Kashmore have one each.
Murad Ali Shah said that through telemedicine all the patients in home isolation were being treated properly.
“The Sindh government has engaged around 500 doctors all over Sindh to keep in touch with patients in home isolation and provide them treatment,” he said and added in case of emergency they were being shifted to hospitals.
The chief minister urged the citizens to follow SOPS and avoid going out of their home without any solid reason.
