KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Munawar Hasan have contracted COVID-19 today (Thursday).
According to details, Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan was attending the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led multi-party conference at the CM House when he came to know that he has contracted the infection.
On the other hand, JI Karachi chapter leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman informed that JI’s Munawar Hasan has been in ICU.
He said, “Munawar Hasan is being administered medicines and necessary treatment,” adding that a team of doctors was constantly taking care of him.
Earlier today, PML-N president and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Party leader Ataullah Tarar also confirmed the development.
President of PTI Karachi chapter and member Sindh Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman has also tested positive for Covid-19.
Several politicians, including members of the ruling PTI, have been diagnosed with the virus in Pakistan as the government insists on easing lockdown against doctors’ advice.
