National effort to increase COVID-19 testing capacity producing results: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that the national effort to increase COVID-19 testing capacity is producing results.
Taking to Twitter, Asad Umar wrote, “Total tests conducted on 15th March were 472. On 11th April, this increased to 2457. On the 16th of April, 5,540 tests and yesterday 6,264 tests. This is a 13 fold increase in 1 month. Need to continue scaling up!”

In another tweet, Asad Umar wrote, “Average daily COVID-19 positive cases reported in the last two days has been 509 vs average of 281 from 10th to 15th April. This is due to the scaling up of testing. The last two days average of 5,892 tests vs average of 2,918 tests from 10th to 15th April. Positive results last two days were 8.6 percent vs 9.6 percent from 10th to 15th April.”

Average daily covid positive cases reported in last 2 days has been 509 vs avg of 281 from april 10 to 15. This is due to scaling up of testing. last 2 days avg of 5,892 tests vs avg of 2,918 tests apr 10 to 15. Positive results last 2 days were 8.6% vs 9.6% from apr 10 to 15

Asad Umar, earlier on Thursday said, “Pakistan is trying to release as many funds as possible in a day and is trying to best to protect the poorest section of the country.”
He visited a cash counter set in Islamabad as part of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme. “Twelve million people will be helped under the programme,” he remarked. “The government is making efforts to provide relief to the people,” he added.
According to him, the incumbent government has taken difficult decisions to control the virus from spreading.
