ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza on Friday said that the authorities have completed the supply of protective gear to 152 hospitals across the country.
While talking to media he said government is making all out efforts to send protective equipment to all doctors, health workers and paramedical staff who are treating COVID-19 patients in different hospitals.
The minister said 727 confirmed COVID-19 patients had been fully recovered so far throughout the country during last 24 hours.
Mirza said during the last 24 hours, 108 new cases were reported from Punjab, 92 from Sindh, 65 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 07 from Balochistan, 02 from Islamabad and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the global death ratio from coronavirus was 5.82 percent while in Pakistan the ratio was only 1.46 percent.
He added 73 percent victims were already suffering from other diseases and the 85 percent of them were above 50 year age.
Replaying a question regarding PIA pilots, the minister said that the protection of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crew was a top priority as they were also on the frontline battling against coronavirus.
He added that authorities had already been instructed to provide all protective gear to PIA crew members. Mirza said citizens should continue implementing protective measures as per health officials’ directions to prevent from prevent the spread of coronavirus.
