KARACHI: Opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi has said that people are starving while the Sindh government is busy making money.
Shamim Naqvi addressed a press conference at Karachi Press Club where parliamentary leaders Halim Adil Sheikh, PTI member Sher Zaman, and Jamal Siddiqui were also present at the conference.
Naqvi while highlighting the current situation of lockdown, said that there are no measures taken against the complete lockdown in the province. “This is a semi-lockdown. Children are seen playing in the streets, which can cause the rapid spread of the coronavirus,” he said.
He further said that the ration is not being distributed among the poor people as promised by the Sindh government. “People are gathering outside the deputy commissioners’ offices for ration,” he further said.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi said that the Sindh government promised that during the lockdown, no one will sleep hungry in Sindh. “On the other hand, after the lockdown workers are being suspended from the factories,” he added.
The opposition leader also requested the Sindh government to ease restrictions during lockdown imposed across the province. “People are facing unemployment because of the lockdown,” he said.
“The duration of opening markets should be increased. One day the clothing stores should be opened and another day the other shops should be opened for maximum hours.” According to Naqvi, the Sindh government has still not fulfilled any promise made to the needy in the province.
“Many factories including pharma and food mills, were not shut down and neither any worker was infected in these factories,” he said, adding that the government should allow factories to work under the coronavirus precautions and thus end unemployment.
While criticising the Pakistan Peoples Party, he said that Saeed Ghani had demanded that they wanted to become part of the Ehsas Program. “PPP should have should mercy on the poor people as the party has already destroyed every resource.”
He asserted that the K-Electric had become an enemy of citizens. Despite the load-shedding in Karachi, the bills people have received are above the average amount.
Speaking on this occasion, PTI Karachi president  Sher Zaman criticised Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah that he promised to distribute the ration among the needy but he failed to fulfill it. He further said that Murad Ali is that Chief Minister who was unable to arrange a rabies vaccinee in the province.
According to President PTI Karachi, Murad Ali Shah is just making money. He asserted that the Sindh government should answer where all the money for the Welfare Board went? “Hospitals do not have kits and doctors don’t have protective gear”, he asserted.
