ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged Ulema to advise the people of Pakistan to stay indoors and offer their prayers in their homes in a bid to contain the outbreak of coronavirus.
The statement came during a video conference with Governors and Ulema from different schools of thought today (Thursday).
President Alvi discussed the ongoing situation of coronavirus and sought cooperation to create awareness among the people of Pakistan about the deadly disease. The President also appreciated the unity among Ulema.
Ulema assured their complete support in this regard and said, “We will comply with the instructions given by the federal government.”
The group of Ulema maintained that they had already taken a number of steps like cancellation of religious congregations and also declared holidays for over 3 million Madrassah students.
President AJK, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Noor ul Haq Qadri, provincial governors, including Governor Gilgit Baltistan, Council of Islamic Ideology, Qibla Ayaz and Ulema from various schools of thought were present in the conference.
At the end of the conference, President Alvi reiterated that only solution to coronavirus was to maintain social distancing and act upon provided guidelines by Islam.
