PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa relief, rehabilitation and settlement department has issued instructions for keeping suspected coronavirus patients in quarantine to avert the possible outbreak of the disease in the province.
The provincial relief, rehabilitation and settlement department stated in a statement, the guidelines for steps at both individual and community levels require administrative measures by the relevant authorities in the province.
The guiding principles have divided the quarantine into four categories including individual (home), groups of travelers, community and occupational risk, which is applicable to healthcare workers or other necessary personnel who have, or maybe expected to as part of their duties, come interactions with such groups.
It further stated for those suspected patients sited in quarantine at home should be accurately recognized along with telephone number, age, medical history, contacts and address along GPS coordinate, rough sketch of habitats, point of entry and access to outside and where it leads.
The instructions said it should also have a separate bedroom for the quarantined individuals for sleeping and eating. Mover ever, a facility should be selected, which is can accommodate at least 200 people and support workers. It said the facility should also have extra care for old age people, women and co-morose persons.
In the guidelines, the officials said a committee headed by the home secretary should coordinate the arrangements outlined in the instructions and it should also plan for ensuring transportation and availability of necessary stuff including food, medication items to all districts in case there is a quarantine implemented on larger areas.
