Host Australia has thrashed India by 85 runs in final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 and won their 5th Women T20 world cup in front of 86,174 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In this perfect evening for the host, dominant Australia placed a healthy target of 185 runs where Alyssa Healy brutally smashed 75 runs in just 39 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 7 fours.
Another Australian opener Beth Mooney also smashed 78 runs in 54 balls. The opening partnership of Australia was 115 runs.
Australia was as ruthless as they have ever been to steamroller India, whose heads dropped in the first over of the match when Healy was dropped by Verma.
Shikha Pandey conceded most runs for Indian side as she gave 52 runs in four overs with an economy of 13.00 per over.
An overawed India slid to 18-3, where top order of the side failed badly in the chase. Captain of the Indian side Harmanpreet Kaur couldn’t help her side and was caught out for 4 runs.
The Indian team was bowled out on just 99 runs. Megan Schutt of Australian side took 4 wickets, whereas Jess Jonassen took 3 wickets and help their side for an astonishing final win.
The crowd fell short of breaking the record attendance at a women’s sporting event which stands at 90,185.
