RAWALPINDI: Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang involved in looting people while taking money from Automated Teller Machines (ATM).
According to Rawalpindi police spokesman, New Town Police Station during a fire exchange of apprehended suspects identified as Sajid Iqbal Bangash, an active member of the gang while his accomplice Naveed who was injured during firing with a police party, escaped from the scene.
Police have also recovered weapons, including two TT pistols, cell phones used in crime and drugs from their possession.
Citing the initial report, police said the suspects were involved in more than 13 cases of robberies in different areas of the city.
City Police Officer Muhammad Ahsan Younas prized the performance of the police for arresting such anti-social elements, adding that it is the main duty of the police to defend the lives and properties of citizens.
