Armed suspects on Wednesday broke into a shop on Zaib-un-Nisa Street in the Saddar area of Karachi and escaped with a safe reportedly containing valuables worth millions of rupees.
The robbery, carried out in the early hours of April 29, 2026, has prompted a police investigation and drawn strong attention from provincial authorities.
According to police, the incident occurred around 5:30 AM on Zaib-un-Nisa Street in Saddar. Two unidentified robbers arrived on a motorcycle and used a cutter to break open the shop’s shutter before entering the premises.
During the robbery, the suspects held the security guard at gunpoint and forced him to assist in moving the safe out of the shop.
The attackers allegedly promised the watchman Rs50,000 for his cooperation, but later fled without paying him.
Initial estimates suggest that the stolen safe contained jewelry worth around Rs200 million (Rs20 crore), although officials say the exact value is yet to be confirmed by the shop owner.
Police officials, including SSP South, said that the jeweler has not yet provided a final valuation of the losses or formally submitted an FIR application. Despite this, investigation teams have collected evidence from the crime scene and begun tracing the suspects.
Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar directed the DIG South to submit an urgent report and ordered swift action to apprehend those involved.
