The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has imposed an energy emergency under which all markets, shopping plazas and commercial centres will be required to close by 9:00 pm.
According to the official notification, the new restrictions aim to reduce unnecessary electricity consumption, particularly during evening hours.
The emergency measures will initially apply to divisional headquarters.
Under the directive, all markets, shopping plazas and commercial centres in these areas must shut by 9:00 pm, while recreational and sports activities will also conclude by the same time.
In other districts, markets and commercial activities will close earlier, at 8:00 pm.
The notification further states that all restaurants, cafés and food outlets must close by 10:00 pm, while wedding halls, markets, event venues and other gatherings will also be required to end by 10:00 pm.
