At least 13 people were killed in a tragic accident involving an oil tanker and a passenger bus near Kathore on the M-9 Motorway, authorities confirmed on Friday.
According to the Chhipa Foundation, nine individuals lost their lives in the incident, and the bodies are being shifted to a nearby hospital.
Several injured passengers are also being transported to close-by medical facilities, Motorway Police said.
Rescue operations are currently underway at the scene, with emergency teams working to assist victims and clear the area.
Traffic has been diverted to alternate routes to prevent congestion, the Motorway Police spokesperson added. Senior officers of the Motorway Police are present at the site, supervising and participating in relief efforts.
Inspector General (IG) Sindh Javed Alam Odho has directed concerned police officials to immediately reach the accident site. He also ordered that the area and its surroundings be secured without delay.
In view of oil spillage and potential hazards, instructions have been issued to ensure all necessary safety and precautionary measures in coordination with relevant departments. Authorities have further directed that routes be kept clear to allow timely access for ambulances and rescue personnel.
