Well-known Bollywood actor, producer and social media commentator Kamal Rashid Khan, popularly known as KRK, has been arrested by Mumbai Police in connection with a firing incident.
According to police, the arrest was made on Saturday after his name surfaced during the investigation.
Police officials said that forensic analysis and preliminary inquiries suggest that the bullets recovered from a residential building were likely fired from KRK’s residence.
Based on this evidence, he was first summoned for questioning and was later taken into custody.
The incident took place on 18 January at Nalanda Society in Oshiwara, Andheri West, where two fired bullets were recovered near different flats in the building.
Police said one bullet was found near a second-floor flat, while the other was recovered close to a fourth-floor flat. It is reported that one of the flats is occupied by a writer-director, while a model resides in the other.
During initial questioning, KRK reportedly admitted that the shots were fired from his licensed firearm.
He claimed that the firing occurred while cleaning the weapon and checking its functionality, adding that he did not intend to target anyone and that the bullet was fired towards a deserted area or a tree.
Police officials said investigations are still underway to determine the nature and motive of the incident, and to establish whether the firing was accidental, the result of negligence, or a violation of the law.
The firearm used in the incident has been seized, and legal proceedings are continuing.
