The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) rebounded on Friday with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining over 3,600 points.
At close, the benchmark index settled at 185,098.83, an increase of 3642.50 points or 2.01%.
Buying interest emerged across several key sectors, notably automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration companies, OMCs, and power generation.
Heavyweight index stocks such as HUBCO, MARI, OGDC, POL, PPL, PSO, SSGC, SNGPL, MCB, MEBL, NBP, and UBL closed in positive territory.
On Thursday, the PSX witnessed heightened volatility, weak investor sentiment, and persistent selling pressure in major sectors outweighed selective buying in heavyweight stocks.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index settled at 181,456.34 points, declining by 1,113.48 points, or 0.61%.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee posted a marginal gain against the US dollar in the interbank market on Friday. By the close of trading, the local currency appreciated slightly to 279.95, up by Re0.01 from Thursday’s closing level of 279.96.
