Former Pakistani international umpire Khizar Hayat has passed away in Lahore.
According to family sources, Khizar Hayat, 86, had been ill for some time.
Khizar Hayat also played first-class cricket for Pakistan Railways. He turned to umpiring in the 1970s and officiated in Test, One Day International, and domestic matches.
Khizar Hayat supervised 34 Test matches and 57 One Day Internationals, and he also umpired in matches of three World Cups.
After retiring from umpiring, Khizar Hayat remained associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed grief over the passing of former international umpire Khizar Hayat.
In his condolence message, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that they pay tribute to the valuable services of the late Khizar Hayat in the field of umpiring.
Mohsin Naqvi said that Khizar Hayat’s decisions during matches were recognized worldwide. Cricket umpiring will always remain grateful to him, and his services in the field of umpiring will be remembered for a long time.
