Air travelers in Pakistan can now enjoy faster check-ins with the introduction of self-boarding kiosks at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, as well as at airports in Islamabad and Karachi. The new systems allow passengers to obtain their boarding passes automatically upon arrival at the terminal.
Officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said that the kiosks will work in conjunction with a new e-application linked to the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS).
Through this platform, passengers traveling internationally will be able to submit their complete travel profiles in advance, including visa details, employment information, and the purpose of travel.
The initiative will also integrate all airlines operating from Pakistan into the system. Once a passenger’s information is uploaded and verified, they can proceed directly to the departure lounge, receive their boarding pass instantly, and complete immigration clearance in a matter of minutes.
Earlier, travelers faced long waits both for boarding cards and at immigration counters. FIA officials confirmed that the new e-application has been equipped with robust security measures, requiring passengers to upload all relevant documents and answer a set of verification questions before approval.
The move is expected to streamline passenger processing, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall travel experience at Pakistan’s busiest airports.
