South Africa beat India by 30 runs in the opening test at Eden Gardens to go 1-0 up in the two-match series on Sunday.
Chasing 124 for victory, India folded for 93 with Washington Sundar (31) topscoring for them.
Simon Harmer (4-21) was the pick of the South Africa bowlers.
Earlier, South Africa was all out for 153 in their second innings, setting India a victory target of 124 on day three of the opening test at Eden Gardens on Sunday.
Skipper Temba Bavuma topped the scoring for the tourists with an unbeaten 55, which is also the first fifty by any batter in the low-scoring contest.
Ravindra Jadeja (4-50) was pick of the Indian bowlers, while Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj claimed two wickets apiece.
The second and final test is scheduled in Guwahati from November 22.
