WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow people to link their Facebook or Instagram profile, paving the way to have the same username as their social media accounts.
As per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.34.3 on the Google Play Store suggests that the popular messaging platform is aiming to let people have the same usernames across Meta platforms.
Designated as a compatible update, the new feature is reportedly in the works for a future version of the app.

The new feature is expected to roll out within a few months, with the process beginning with select beta users before expanding to all users.

How will it work?
As per reports, users will enter the existing Facebook or Instagram handle in WhatsApp. The messaging app will verify ownership through Meta’s Accounts Center. After verification, the username will be locked and reserved exclusively for that account, meaning others will not be able to claim it even if they gain early access to the full username feature later on.
