The 148th birth anniversary of the thinker of Pakistan, poet of the East, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, who dreamed of a free homeland for Muslims, is being observed today with great reverence and respect.
According to details, a dignified ceremony of changing of guards will be held at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, who awakened the oppressed nations and taught the Muslim youth the lesson of action.
It is to be noted that every year on November 9, the birth anniversary of the poet of the East, Allama Iqbal, is observed as Iqbal Day throughout Pakistan, and a public holiday is declared on this day.
Allama Iqbal, rejecting the pressure of British imperialism, dreamed of an independent state for the Muslim nation and also gave a plan to turn that dream into reality.
Allama Iqbal awakened the Muslims of the subcontinent by highlighting the sense of separate nationhood to free them from the chains of slavery through his poetry.
His thoughts and ideas lit the lamp of hope that not only pointed out the destination but also the path towards it.
It should be remembered that the thinker of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, was born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, and passed away on April 21, 1938, in Lahore. Every year, a ceremony of recitation and changing of guards is held at his grave.
