During the dignified ceremony of changing of guards at the Mazar-e-Iqbal, a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Navy assumed the duties of the ceremonial guards.
According to details, a graceful ceremony of changing of guards was held at the Mazar-e-Iqbal to pay tribute to the Thinker of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal. Commander Central Punjab of the Pakistan Navy, Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmi, was the chief guest of the ceremony.
Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmi inspected the contingents of Pakistan Rangers and Pakistan Navy. The smartly turned-out contingent of Pakistan Navy took over the duties of the ceremonial guards.
The contingent of Pakistan Rangers Punjab, which had been performing duties at the mausoleum of the Poet of the East since last year, was relieved of its duties.
The chief guest of the ceremony, Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmi, laid a floral wreath at the Mazar-e-Iqbal and offered fateha.
It is to be noted that the 148th birth anniversary of Hakim-ul-Ummat Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal is being observed today. The Poet of the East had envisioned a separate state for Muslims about one and a half centuries ago.
