ISLAMABAD: The 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) Award meeting has been scheduled for August 29 (Friday), with the federal government set to present financial data to the provinces during the session.
The development comes after President Asif Ali Zardari formally approved the constitution of the commission earlier this week.
Following the approval, the Ministry of Finance issued the official notification, while a committee of federal ministers outlined the strategy for the upcoming award.
Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will chair the nine-member commission, which includes the finance ministers of all four provinces as members. Each province will also be represented by one expert.
The nominated expert members are:
Punjab: Nasir Mahmood Khosa
Sindh: Dr Asad Saeed
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Dr Musharraf Rasool
Balochistan: Dr Farmanullah
The NFC Award is a key constitutional mechanism that determines the distribution of financial resources between the federation and the provinces.
The upcoming meeting will mark the beginning of deliberations aimed at finalizing a new award.
