RAWALPINDI: In a rare act of courage that has stirred admiration across the twin cities, a food delivery rider risked his own safety to rescue a young girl from an alleged assault in Bahria Town Phase 7, officials and witnesses confirmed on Saturday.
According to accounts viral on social media, Foodpanda rider Basharat Hussain was passing through the locality when he heard the cries of a girl. Acting without hesitation, he rushed to the scene, where he reportedly caught two individuals allegedly attempting to sexually assault the girl.
Hussain not only intervened to protect the girl but also managed to apprehend the suspects, handing them over to the police with the help of bystanders he had alerted.
The incident has drawn widespread praise, with many citizens acknowledging that in a society where most would have turned away, Hussain’s bravery stood out as exceptional. “He saved the girl’s honor and reminded us that ordinary people can rise to extraordinary moments,” remarked one resident.
Foodpanda, the company he works for, awarded him cash and a mobile phone in recognition of his courageous act. Community members have also called for greater protection and appreciation of hardworking riders who often face risks while earning their livelihood.
