LAHORE: The Punjab government has inaugurated an online portal for its flagship ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar’ scheme, aimed at providing land and employment opportunities to farmers and rural youth.
According to official details, the portal has been launched to facilitate transparent and easy registration for applicants seeking to benefit from the initiative. Through the digital platform, eligible individuals will be able to submit applications, upload required documents, and track the status of their requests.
The ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar’ scheme, introduced under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is designed to promote self-employment and boost agricultural productivity across the province. Under the programme, landless farmers and unemployed youth will be allotted cultivable land to help them earn a sustainable livelihood.
Officials said the initiative will cover all districts of Punjab, with a particular focus on uplifting rural communities. Each selected beneficiary is expected to receive between three and five acres of agricultural land, along with access to financial assistance, modern farming machinery, and technical training.
The government has also linked the scheme with additional support measures, including interest-free loans and agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilisers, to ensure long-term productivity and financial stability for beneficiaries.
Authorities emphasised that the introduction of the online portal will enhance transparency in the selection process and minimise bureaucratic hurdles, enabling deserving applicants to benefit more efficiently.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce rural poverty, generate employment, and strengthen the agricultural sector by transforming landless labourers into independent farmers.
