ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad has issued an important advisory for citizens of the federal capital following reports of petrol shortages at fuel stations across the city.
In an official statement, the district administration said it was actively reviewing reports of fuel shortages at petrol pumps, seeking to reassure residents that stocks of both petrol and diesel remain available in ample quantities across the city.
The advisory comes on the heels of reports that the Attock Refinery shut down its main production unit following road closures in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi — closures enforced as part of security arrangements put in place for the high-profile US-Iran peace talks being held in the capital.

The road blockades, which restricted the movement of heavy vehicles including fuel tankers, are believed to have triggered a chain reaction leading to supply disruptions at several petrol stations, prompting public concern and long queues at a number of pumps.
“Citizens are urged not to be concerned by such reports,” the advisory read, adding that the temporary disruptions experienced at a handful of petrol pumps were largely attributable to the suspension of heavy transport in the twin cities. The administration confirmed that fuel supply to all affected pumps was being actively restored through the deployment of petrol tankers.
The advisory further stated that Assistant Commissioners across Islamabad are closely monitoring stock availability at pumps within their respective jurisdictions, while the DC Islamabad is personally overseeing the supply and availability of petrol and diesel through the district administration’s modern dashboard.
Authorities have sought to reassure the public that the situation remains under control and that normalcy in fuel supply is expected to be fully restored shortly.
