The 2026 NBA regular season concluded yesterday with a dramatic 15-game slate that finalized the playoff and play-in tournament fields. The SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament is now set to tip off tomorrow, April 14, running through April 17 to determine the final two playoff seeds in each conference.
Eastern Conference Play-In Matchups Locked In
The Eastern Conference play-in bracket is now fully set, with first-round matchups locked in and the full league field taking shape ahead of the postseason. Miami will travel to Charlotte for a play-in game on Tuesday, April 14, while Orlando will head to Philadelphia for a “win-and-you’re-in” clash on Wednesday, April 15.
The winner of the Orlando-Philadelphia matchup will secure the seventh seed and face the No. 2-seeded Boston Celtics in the first round. The loser will face the Miami-Charlotte winner on Friday for the final Eastern Conference berth, which will meet the top-seeded Detroit Pistons.
The top six seeds in the East are locked in: Boston (1), Detroit (2), New York (3), Cleveland (4), Toronto (5), and Atlanta (6). These positions set first-round pairings including Boston versus the lowest-seeded play-in survivor and New York versus the seventh seed, with Cleveland potentially drawing Orlando if the Magic advance.
Western Conference Tournament Begins Tuesday
The Western Conference play-in also features eight teams competing for four playoff spots, with the full tournament running Tuesday through Friday. The first round of the NBA Playoffs begins Saturday, April 18, with seeds and dates finalized based on play-in outcomes.
Pressure Mounts for 76ers, Other Contenders
Philadelphia coach Nick Nurse faces mounting pressure following the team’s recent struggles and the loss of star Joel Embiid to injury. Across the league, teams including Miami, Charlotte, Orlando, and Philadelphia now control their own postseason fate, setting the stage for a series of do-or-die showdowns that will shape the 2026 playoff field.
