ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday assured the nation that Pakistan’s petroleum reserves are sufficient to meet domestic demand, attributing the stability to timely government interventions amid regional volatility.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting on fuel conservation measures, the Prime Minister emphasized that public welfare remains the top priority.

“In the last three weeks, we have extended maximum relief to the people,” he said, noting that Rs125 billion has been allocated — alongside cuts in non-essential development budgets — to shield citizens from global oil price shocks.
He urged public cooperation in the national savings campaign, advising citizens to limit non-essential travel and adopt teleconferencing in workplaces.
The PM also directed provincial governments to facilitate motorcycle and rickshaw owners in registering their vehicles, aiming to digitize ownership records and ensure future access to state relief programs. Authorities have been instructed to strengthen coordination with provincial chief secretaries, including those in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
