Four female doctors at Lahore’s Lady Willingdon Hospital have been suspended following the circulation of a video showing them joking about a “race” to perform C-section surgeries. The footage, recorded inside the hospital’s operation theatre, sparked outrage online over alleged violations of medical ethics and patient dignity.
The doctors whose postgraduate training has been halted are Dr. Fatima Toor, Dr. Mahem Amin, Dr. Zainab Tahir, and Dr. Ayesha Afzal.
In response, the Punjab government issued a show-cause notice to the head of the hospital’s Gynaecology Department and requested a formal explanation from the medical superintendent. The notice cited the doctors’ behavior as a breach of patient safety standards and professional trust.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique condemned the incident, calling it a violation of medical ethics and professional standards that undermined patient respect.
Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood announced the formation of a special committee to investigate the matter, including how the video was recorded, why it went viral, and to ensure accountability for all involved.
