The government of Balochistan has ordered the closure of all public and private schools, along with other educational institutions, until March 31 under the ongoing austerity drive.
Pakistan’s austerity drive focuses on cutting public spending amid economic pressure. The government has reduced fuel use, limited official travel, scaled down operations, and imposed restrictions on resources.
Measures also affect sectors like education and sports, aiming to conserve energy, stabilize finances, and manage rising fiscal and global economic challenges.
Authorities clarified that the shutdown will not affect key administrative and academic processes, including student admissions campaigns, updates to the digital school census, and previously scheduled examinations, which will continue as planned.
It should be noted that Punjab had earlier suspended in-person classes for two weeks to conserve fuel amid ongoing global uncertainty. Despite the closures, examinations are proceeding on schedule, while institutions have been instructed to shift teaching and other academic activities online.
