Karachi: Pakistani cricket sensation Sahibzada Farhan has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2026, following a record-breaking performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The 30-year-old opener, affectionately nicknamed “Patakha” (firecracker), delivered a historic campaign that redefined T20 batting excellence.
Farhan, born March 6, 1996, in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, smashed 383 runs in the tournament at a blistering strike rate of 160.25 and an average of 76.60 — surpassing Virat Kohli’s previous record of 319 runs from the 2014 edition. He became the first batter ever to score two centuries in a single Men’s T20 World Cup, achieving the feat against Namibia and Sri Lanka.
A right-handed top-order dynamo who plays domestically for Peshawar and in the PSL for Islamabad United, Farhan’s explosive form not only propelled Pakistan deep into the tournament but also earned him global acclaim. The ICC hailed his “unparalleled consistency and aggression,” cementing his status as one of the game’s most electrifying openers.
“He didn’t just score runs — he rewrote the record books,” said an ICC spokesperson. “Two centuries in one T20 World Cup? That’s history.”
Farhan’s triumph marks a milestone for Pakistani cricket and a personal vindication for a player long tipped for greatness. With the World Cup still underway, fans and pundits alike are now asking: Can he carry this momentum to the final?
