KP CM slams ‘decisions behind closed doors’ at Pishin rally

PISHIN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the federal government, condemning what he described as “decision-making behind closed doors” regarding national and foreign affairs.

Addressing a large public gathering in Balochistan’s Pishin district—held under the banner of the Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Ain Pakistan and organized by Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai—CM Afridi asserted that the Pakistani people would not accept “imposed” leadership.

“We are an honourable nation. We do not accept a prime minister who salutes Donald Trump. These people have lived in slavery to the British,” the chief minister told the crowd, which responded with frequent chants calling for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Sohail Afridi dismissed the legitimacy of the current administration, labeling it a “fake government” occupying the federation on the back of only 17 seats. He claimed that mandates in Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan had been “looted,” maintaining that the KP government was the only one established through the genuine “power of the people.”

Turning his focus to the incarcerated PTI chairman, the chief minister stated that PTI Chief Khan had lost hope in the judicial system. “His statement yesterday shows that all institutions—parliament and the courts—have been taken hostage. He is adamant and refuses to bow down,” he said, framing Imran Khan as a leader of the “Muslim Ummah” for his “absolutely not” stance toward US influence.

“For the leader imprisoned in Adiala Jail, we will tie shrouds on our heads and come out. We are prepared to take bullets to our chests,” he added, calling on the supporters to prepare for a mass movement.

In a segment of his speech directed at the Pashtun population, Sohail Afridi alleged that the “ruling mindset” in the country had marginalized Pathans since 1947.

“They have committed genocide against the Pathans and imposed rulers who merely follow instructions. But today, a generation has risen that fears neither tyranny nor guns,” he said. He further remarked that while Pashtun lands are rich in natural resources, these assets have often become a source of manufactured conflict.

Concluding his address, the chief minister hinted at an impending escalation in protests, suggesting that the rally served as a precursor to a larger street movement or a “long march” following the Eid holidays.
