KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced that female students, working women, and registered industrial workers will be eligible to receive free pink electric scooters under its newly launched mobility scheme.
Officials said the initiative, managed by the Sindh Mass Transit Authority and the Workers Welfare Board Sindh, aims to empower women by improving access to safe and reliable transport. Applications are being accepted online, with recipients selected through a ballot system.
Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that successful applicants will also undergo road safety and riding training to ensure safe use of the vehicles.
The program, which will distribute 10,000 scooters, is part of the provincial government’s broader effort to promote gender equality and green transport solutions.
The scheme will be formally launched on March 8, 2026, with the first batch of scooters distributed at a ceremony in Karachi to mark International Women’s Day.
