Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has reportedly restricted gas supply to domestic users in Karachi amid global LNG supply disruptions caused by the ongoing US-Israel attacks on Iran.
According to reports, consumers will receive gas from 3:00am to 9:00am in the morning and 3:00pm to 9:00pm in the evening under the new schedule.
It should be noted that earlier, SSGC had announced uninterrupted gas supply from 3:30pm to 10:30pm during Ramadan.
Meanwhile, SSGC is implementing noteworthy gas load shedding in Karachi, including 48-hour shutdowns for industries and CNG stations in order to prioritise residential demand. Routine load management often includes nightly suspensions from 10:00pm to 5:00am or severe low-pressure issues, particularly during winter and peak hours.
The company has also noted that the country’s indigenous gas reserves are declining by up to 10% annually, resulting in a noticeable reduction in overall supply to the system.
