In a tragic incident, a popular TikToker from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was shot dead in Mansehra’s Balakot area just before iftar, after what was reportedly meant to be a lighthearted joke among friends.
The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, has sparked outrage in the community, leading to protests and demands for swift action against the accused.
According to details, the incident took place in the Balakot area of Mansehra, where TikToker Mohammad Javed alias Mahandri had gone with friends to the riverside to break their fast. During the gathering, he jokingly said something to a friend who had just arrived.
A video of the incident went viral on social media. The footage appears to show a friendly atmosphere, with friends laughing and joking.
However, during the interaction, one of the men present suddenly pulled out a pistol and fired. Mahandri collapsed after being shot and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Reports suggest that the suspected shooter is a serving police officer who fled the scene after the incident. Initial information indicates that the officer believed the weapon was unloaded, but a bullet in the chamber proved fatal for Mahandri.

Following news of the killing, family members and local residents staged strong protests against the police. Demonstrators blocked the Kaghan Highway, demanding the immediate arrest of those involved. After negotiations with the administration failed, angry protesters vandalized and set fire to the Balakot police station.
Javed Mahandri, a resident of Balakot, was widely known in the area for his sense of humor. He was popular for bringing smiles to people of all ages through his words and antics. His comedic videos, uploaded to TikTok by close associates, were especially popular across the Hazara division.
According to Balakot Police Station SHO Syed Israr Shah, the suspect has been identified through the viral video. A full investigation is underway, and authorities have vowed that the accused will be brought to justice.
