The emergency session examined the fallout from US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, highlighting sharp divisions among the Council’s 15 members over the escalating crisis. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, voiced Islamabad’s growing concern as tensions in the Middle East deepen.
“Pakistan condemns the initiation of unwarranted attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran, in violation of international law,” he said, while also condemning assaults on Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE, pledging solidarity with these Gulf nations.
Ambassador Ahmad warned that such actions, amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, risk undermining regional peace and stability, with wide-reaching consequences.
He underscored that Pakistan’s focus is not limited to a single capital but encompasses the security of the entire Gulf, home to millions of Pakistani expatriates and a key partner in political, economic, and security terms.
