Army Chief Gen. Abdol Rahim Mousavi and Defense Minister Gen. Aziz Nasirzadeh were killed during the meeting. Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour, who had taken over as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ top commander after Israel killed his predecessor in the 12-day war last June, was also reported dead. Senior adviser Ali Shamkhani, long regarded as a key figure within Iran’s security establishment, was among those killed.
The strike targeted a high-level meeting at Khamenei’s office in Tehran. Iranian state media outlet IRNA confirmed that several additional senior military officials were killed, although their identities have not yet been released.
Earlier, Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in his office during joint U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran.
On social media, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning, saying any further Iranian attacks would be met with “a force that has never been seen before.”
He described the strike as “the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their country.”
The attacks have caused widespread disruption across the Middle East. Commercial flights were grounded, and governments rushed to assess damage and potential civilian casualties.
